Winter 2000 Wonder Festival and Cammy! |
| I guess I should first explain what the
Wonder Festival is... It's a huge show for garage kit models, but they also have some other stuff like toys, cards, etc. And of course the cosplayers are there doing their thing. Anyhow, the 2000 yen (US$ 20) entrance fee seemed like a lot at first, but it was worth it. And if you're wondering about the attendance, I'd guess about 50,000! |
| It was unbelievable fun, and I wish you could
all have been there too. 8 hours flew buy like a few minutes because there was just so
much amazing stuff to see. And do you know what, they even had pro wrestling!! Outside,
where all the cosplayers were, they had a couple of wrestling matches. I'm telling you,
nobody on earth knows how to have a good time like the Japanese! They may seem quiet and
polite, but that's all a trick! Study hard, come to Japan, and see all this for yourself. This is a secret... you shouldn't be able to read this line! |
| .Cammy takes the day... again! |
| Okay, the first thing I need to report is that Cammy again dominated a huge show in Japan. There were a total of 9 Cammy garage kits for sale! Chun Li only had 3, Sakura 2, Felicia 3, Morrigan 3, Lilith 2, Karin 1, Mika 1, etc. You may laugh me off when I rant and rave about how popular Cammy is, and how f'd up Capcom is for ditching her... but I'm backed up by fact again. Trust me... even without Capcom's backing, Cammy is STILL wildly popular in Japan. |
| And another thing that made me smile was that a great girl
braved the winter weather to cosplay as Delta Red Cammy! Yes, the cosplay was outside. It
was about 8 C (45 F)! There was also 1 Chun Li cosplayer right next to the Cammy
cosplayer, but nobody wanted to take pictures of her... but Cammy had a line of about
20-30 people waiting for their chance. But poor Chun Li just stood there all alone in the
cold. Inside, I laughed at Chun Li, and cried for the girl. BTW - I didn't get a picture with this Cammy but I did talk to her for quite a little bit. Talking to her in Japanese was no problem, but when I tried to walk away, I found that my legs refused to work. Heh heh heh... I guess I was a little nervous ^_^ (I hope she didn't notice!) |
| Anyhow, I said there were 9 Cammy garage kits. I already had 3 of them, but the other 6 were new!! They don't make many of these, so I was lucky to get them all. Of one model, there were only 4 copies, another had 10, another 8, etc. 4 of the 6 I needed sold out almost immediately... before I got there! But I managed to make special deals with all the makers, so I managed to get those too! One of the 9 models is still unbuilt, but I got my order in already. It's being made by a guy who did some work with Capcom. He showed me what he has done so far, and it looks great! Oh, hold on a second... I also saw an Ibuki statue that was made to look like Cammy! It was done so well that it looked like Cammy cosplaying as Ibuki! So, I guess that makes 9 1/2 Cammy garage kits, right?! |
| Until now, all my Cammy models were Delta Red Cammy. In fact, I'd never seen a Shadowloo Cammy model. But I got at the show was Shadowloo Cammy. One is at least 1 foot (30 centimeters) tall! It's Shadowloo Cammy from her thighs up. The 2nd is kinda like Shadowloo Cammy, but it's not normal... it's Cammy in jeans, a bodysuit, and Vega's hat. The 3rd is Shadowloo Cammy saluting. The 4th is Shadowloo Cammy with her thumb out. The 5th is an action pose Shadowloo Cammy that's done is a really cute style that's full sized, but kinda like SD. And the 6th is also Shadowloo Cammy, but it's not done yet - still needs details and hair. I have pictures of all of them, but I need to develop the film first. Check in a day or so, and I should have a few pictures up here. |
| I also was promised an original Cammy picture by the ex-Capcom guy who's making the Cammy model. And another guy gave me all the extra display stuff after the show ended. Oh, and I talked to a guy who said that he's pretty sure he has some Cammy animation cels from the SF2 Movie! I'll be meeting with him later this week. I hope my extremely good luck lasts a little bit longer. Just to be sure, please pray for me! |
| If you're wondering... yes, all this stuff cost me a LOT of money (almost half a month's salary!). Cammy pretty much takes up most of my money and time, but hell, there's nothing I love more. It's all great fun, and worth ever second and ever cent!! I hope you also enjoy all this Cammy stuff that I'm lucky enough to be be able to bring you. I might someday grow old, get married, have kids, and all that stuff, but don't you EVER expect my 'love' of Cammy to die down. If you're a Cammy fan too (and I know you are!), you can always be sure that Cammy and I will be here with new and interesting Cammy stuff for you to enjoy! |
| And don't forget what I've been saying about Cammy being #1... she's proven that her popularity will not go away, not matter how much Capcom ignores/hides her, and no matter how much they push Chun Li. So, if she's not gonna go away, I'm not gonna go away, and other fans who make new stuff aren't gonna go away, neither should you!! |
| Anyhow, if you have any simple questions about anything regarding the show, drop me a quick e-mail. |
| .By the way, there were no Ryu, Ken, Gouki, or Dan models at the show! Final score... | ||
| Cammy | : | 9 models |
| Capcom favorites | : | 6 models (Ryu, Chun Li, Ken, Sakura, Karin, Dan, Zangief, Dhalsim, and Gouki combined) |
| Undisputed winner = Cammy!! This is a secret... you shouldn't be able to read this line! |
||
| Something to think about... The most popular character (Cammy) from Capcom's most popular game (SF2) has barely been used in 6 years, hasn't been promoted, and yet she's still SO popular. Why is that? How can that be? Forget that... the real question, is why does Capcom continue to ignore such a popular character?! Cammy obviously has big time potential. Hell, there could be a good argument made that she's Capcom's most popular character ever. So, why did she get left of of the 52 character cast of Marvel vs Capcom 2? Does Capcom hate their own character? Do they hate all her fans? Is there some other reason? Who knows. But there's doubt that this whole situation stinks to the high heavens!! This is a secret... you shouldn't be able to read this line! |

Model # 1 - A different Shadowloo Cammy Never seen one like this before! The new outfit is really cool, and they artist's style is unique too. This model was sold out (all 4 copies, but the guy selling the models was SUPER nice, so he told me that if I come back after the show, he'd give me this and another model for free! I did, and he did!! |

Model # 2 - Front view, Back view This model is by the same guy who did Model #1. It's really big... about 30 cm (1 foot) tall! Like the first one, there were only 4 copies, and they were all gone only an hour into the show! But the nice guy gave me this display model for free. |

Model #2 - Color picture display The nice guy also gave me this picture that was displayed at the booth. It is basically a picture of Model #2. It's done in chalk, and is really a fine picture... even though the artist forgot Cammy's scar. But Cammy looks so pretty, so I won't complain. |

Models #1 and #2 - Diagram display And the nice guy also game me this display picture for the 2 Cammy models that I got. It's got all sorts of fun notes and pictures of Cammy. |

Model # 3 - Box cover This is the cover of the box that model #3 Cammy in. I walked by, saw the picture, and immediately pulled out my wallet. I was already paying before I noticed that he an unpainted had a copy on display. That's the next one... |
![]() |
Model # 3 - "Saluting Model" This is actually the last model I found. The guy had 10 copies, so I was lucky enough to to get it without begging and making deals. Looks great, huh? Cammy can just hear Cammy's voice... "Mission completed, Sir!" |
![]() |
Model # 5 - Front view, Back view I think this one is cool because it's a mix of super-deformed and realistic. There were only 6 copies of this one, and they sold out quick. But, I convinced the artist to make cast one more model for me. It's gonna cost me a small fortune though... |
|
Gaki Pro advertisement This is ad the for Oono-san's booth. He's the guy that did some Rival Schools art work with Capcom. When I got into the exhibition hall, I ran right over to his booth! And that's where I discovered my first Cammy model... "Model #6" below, is that model. |
![]() |
Model # 6 - Gaki Pro Cammy When I saw this model, the guy wasn't done with it yet, but I ordered some for him. I was in contact with him about it, but then he stopped talking to me, and he won't answer any e-mail on the subject. @$$hole! So, I guess I'm never gonna get it...? |

Cammy Cosplay - one, two, three, four Cold winter day... no problem! This girl is a true Cammy fan. I saw her inside and ran right over to say Hello. I talked to her for a while, and met her outside later to take a lotta pictures. |
![]() |
Cammy Cosplay - five, six, seven Anyhow, here are some more form the same Cammy. Remember when I said that I could barely walk after talking to her... I guess that you now see why I got so... ummm... nervous. But, she was a nice girl, and made a great Cammy! |
![]() |
Bulleta Cosplay - one, two Best cosplayer I've ever seen! Even though it's not Cammy, I can't take anything away form this girl. Dare I say... Perfect? Yeah, I think I can. Outfit, poses, attitude, and everything was right on. Truly amazing!! |
![]() |
Blair Dame Cosplay - one, two, three, four Well, I think it's Blair Dame. This girl was fun to watch, because it was probably her first big cosplay experience. She wasn't used to all the attention, but I think she had fun anyways. And I know there were about 30 guys who had a good time taking pictures... |
![]() |
Lei Lei Cosplay Yeah! I always admire girls who cosplay as Lei Lei. There's no easy way to get a Lei Lei outfit... you basically have to make it yourself. And that's cool because every Lei Lei outfit is unique. Check out the next picture to see what I mean... |
![]() |
Lei Lei and Felicia Cosplay What a couple! Both costumes are among the best I've ever seen. And these girls had all sorts of cute poses for the photographers. |
![]() |
Felicia Cosplay And I thought Cammy was brave! Felicia wears even less than Cammy... Some parts of this girl must been plenty warm under that fur, but most of her was probably pretty cold. But, it's a great looking outfit, and that's what really counts! |

Also at the show - Osaka Puroresuru! This is not a joke! Outside the exhibition hall there were cosplayers and pro wrestling matches! Check out this picture of the super-hero + girl mixed tag match. It was great fun!! |
